Year 7 +Nature and Wellbeing Group

Holiday and Term Session Booking Form.

Directions:

Farnely Hall (near Otley)

post code: LS21 2QF

Arrival: There is now a turning circle and walking bus in operation. Children are dropped off and picked up from here.

On entering through the stone pillars marked ‘private road’ please stick to the left hand side. There is turning circle in operation. Proceed down the left of the driveway (1), turn at the top(2) and drive back down towards the gates and pull in on that side of the driveway (3) as far down as you can or if there are other cars waiting please be patient and wait to let them get their kids out before going forward. There is a waiting area at the top of the drive way where your children can wait safely until we are all ready to walk down to site. They will be there for you at the end of the day too.

*Please be mindful of where you children are at all times during drop off and pick up and watch out for other children and cars*

NB: Once children have been dropped off, adults are expected to leave the site. It is a beautiful, private woodland and as such the owner’s privacy is to be respected. Tag Rooted Wings but please DON’T tag the location on any photos you may share on social media.

Toilets:

There are lovely compost toilets on site, children will be shown how to use them during the introductory part of the session. This is a new concept for many children and we understand that this can cause some anxiety. If this will be a problem for your child in anyway please let us know before the session starts. We are more than happy to assist and ease nerves!

Lunch and Drinks:

Please provide a substantial packed lunch and plenty of fluids, its true what they say that everything tastes better outdoors! We will be doing a lot of moving and energy burning. Campfire s’mores and hot chocolate will be supplied through the camp too. (chocolate biscuits and marshmallows)

Please can they also bring mug for hot chocolate. Nothing precious!

Clothing: PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING

Bottom line please send more not less! We can take layers off but we can’t add what isn’t there. Below is a good outline of what to wear. Even in summer the weather can be so changeable!

Base layer: long sleeved top and leggings and thick socks

Mid layer: trousers, t shirt and jumper/ fleece

Outer layer: water proof trousers and coat, hats, gloves, neck warmer or scarf

Footwear: sturdy boots, wellies or trail type trainers are best. The ground is muddy and uneven with all the regular trip hazards you’d expect to find in a woodland. Good footwear is essential.

We recommend you to supply a full change of clothes in case of an unfortunate meeting with mud or water and a water proof bag to put wet/ muddy items into

Don’t forget the suncream (applied before hand please) and the sun hats!
